The Entry Permit is a certificate issued by the General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners Affairs - Dubai (“GDRFAD”), through DMCA, indicating that the personal documents submitted by the applicant have been verified, and he is permitted into the United Arab Emirates for a specified period of time, for employment. The permit is provisional and subject to approval by the authorised officer at the point of entry. It allows entry via Dubai airports only, providing that the passport shall be valid for not less than three months on arrival at the point of entry. Permit details shall be typed electronically, and obtaining an original copy is required to enter the United Arab Emirates through other points of entry.

Employment Contract Termination for Employee within UAE

The employee shall complete the contract term as agreed, and if either party wishes to terminate the contract, the following rules shall be considered:

  1. During the probation period, both employer and employee may terminate the contract without prior notice.
  2. Once the probationary period completed satisfactorily, both employer and employee may terminate the contract at any time with a prior written notice before the set termination date, within a period agreed upon by the two parties, providing that it may not be less than one month or more than three months. Both parties shall comply with the employment contract during notification period.
  3. The establishment/company shall apply for employment contract termination within enough time before the residence visa expiry date. The establishment/company shall ensure dependents visas have been cancelled, attach copy of GDRFAD the approved visa cancellation form and the employee has left the UAE or got a new job within the specified period of (28) days from cancellation date.
  4. The company shall refer to UAE applicable Labour Law to compute the employee’s end of service benefits.

End of Service Benefits

The general rules of end of service benefits are as follows:

  1. Benefits and dues on basic salary basis.
  2. Annual leave dues on basic salary basis.
  3. Benefits and entitlements are payable after completion of at least one year from employment contract date.

Stages of Employment Contract Termination

After completing all requirements, termination of employment contract is conducted in two stages as follows:

First Stage:

  1. Submittal of required documents as well as payment of contract termination fees.
  2. Receiving the original copy of GDRFAD approved employee’s residence visa cancellation.

Required Documents:

  1. Service Termination request letter from company.
  2. Filling the service termination application form
  3. Original copy of employee’s labour card.
  4. Employee’s original valid passport and Emirates ID card.
  5. Copy of return ticket if the employee wishes to leave UAE.
  6. Copy of initial approval or employment visa if the employee wishes to get a new job opportunity in UAE.

Second Stage:

After completing all required documents, employee’s service termination request will be approved by GDRFAD, and copy of the approved cancellation form along with the employee’s original passport will be given to the company, so that he can leave UAE or get a new job opportunity. The company shall notify DMCA of the date the employee leaves UAE and provide copy of exit stamp issued by GDRFAD – airport

Employment Contract Termination for Employee Out of UAE

The company shall apply for employment contract termination for an employee out of UAE provided that the company obtains the employee’s approval and delivers his original passport to DMCA. In case the original passport cannot be provided, the company shall provide exit certificate from GDRFAD proving that the employee has been out of UAE for 6 months.

Stages of Employment Contract Termination:

After completing all requirements, termination of employment contract is conducted in two stages as follows:

  1. Submittal of required documents as well as payment of contract termination fees.
  2. Receiving the original copy of GDRFAD approved employee’s residence visa cancellation.

  1. Service Termination request letter from company.
  2. Filling the service termination application form

  4. Copy of employee’s passport and residence visa as well as copy of Emirates ID card in case of failing to furnish the original passport.
  5. UAE exit certificate from GDRFAD.

Second Stage:

After completing all required documents, employee’s service termination request will be approved by GDRFAD, and copy of the approved cancellation form will be given to the company.

Payment can be made in cash to the Customer Service Centers of Dubai Maritime City Authority or through portal electronic payment gateway.

From Sunday to Thursday 08:00 am till 01:00 pm

The service is not available during official holidays determined by the country.

Processing time varies depending on the procedure and type of submitted application.
